There are a few options you could try, including the Blend tool. Another is to create the shadow in Photoshop ( Grayscale ) > covert file > Bitmap 1-bit "Diffusion Dither". The Ps file will "place" as transparent with feathering. Use a resolution of around 150 - 200 depending on view distance.

Did you upgrade or do a 'clean' install? Yosemite has some errors when simply updating from current OS.

Use the original text path > copy it and delete text > apply a stroke of whatever is appropriate for the distance or thickness you want > apply White stroke > copy that path and move it to whatever thickness is appropriate, apply a Black stroke > Pathfinder minus front. There are a few ways to get what you want.

Hi! I also needed the area to be calculated into the metric system. To save some work for others that like me suffers from dyscalculia I publish my effort:

1. See the original script at github: Script to find the area of shapes in Adobe Illustrator

2. Change the divisor from 72 (ppi - pixels per inch) to 2.834645669291 (pixels per millimeter) [pixels acctually being "computer points"].

3. The last two parts of the original script was changed into this:

var areaInMm = Math.round((totalArea / ppMm / ppMm) * 100) / 100;

Times New Roman is what I converted into to start in word. The conversion into PDF is where the tinting comes up. It is totally random, and changes when I change the structure of the paragraph. All same font, no other obvious determinants, as the pink area changes as I change structure.

A gradient or a blend from object color to the background color would be an illusion of a blur.

I tried uninstalling and installing, but it took forever. So, I quit Creative Cloud and now I can't find Creative Cloud on my Mac (not in toolbar anymore). When I tried reinstalling Creative Cloud, it said that there is another one open (there isn't).

I'm not sure what version. It's 2014..the latest I guess.

The question mark appears when either the system version can't run the app or when something else prevents it. e.g. not completely installed or some relevant parts got corrupt.
