Vector placed from CC library altered when placed as copy
I work in a team of 8 and we all collaborate on the same CC libraries. Two of us (and only two of us) are having problems when placing icons/vectors as a copy (as opposed to linked). It also doesn't do the same thing each time. Sometimes things are shifted, sometimes the strokes look as though they have a variable width put on them...
The files within the CC library are clean and outlined. I've even tried remaking them, but this doesn't seem to change the problem. We are both up-to-date on our installs. See images below for examples. What could be happening here?

Is anybody experiencing this problem on a version of OS X that is not El Capitan?

Alignment Issues...Really Adobe?
This may seem incredibly petty but I couldn't find anything that specifically addressed my issue.
While I appreciate Adobe backtracking Illustrator to the days where every time I selected something new I have to tell the program I want to align to the artboard not the item itself, I don't actually and I'm cursing them for adding more time to my workflow. I really appreciated the stupid simple logic of "This is the only object selected, auto align it to artboards"and "two objects selected, no key? align to artboard". It makes WAY more sense and doesn't add clicks/time to my work.
How exactly does a single object align to itself? Why did Adobe make this silly decision? Why can't I change this in preferences?

pattern making tool
Using illustrator CC 2018 (latest) version on a MacBook Pro
Hi- so I'm at my wits end. The artwork is very detailed, large file, I spent all weekend cleaning it up (making the 200+GB file just under 40MB) and illustrator still lags and is so slow (not happening with other projects though so I assume it's the file size, but I don't know how else to retain the editing capabilities I need and reduce the file size) anyway.
Anyway, this art, so adorably placed on a square, like I've done 8432039 times before, and then I use the pattern making tool to edit it a bit, make it perfect, check for hairlines, etc. THIS file- I can take all the artwork and click make pattern, and do absolutely nothing, and then it saves and creates the pattern JUST. FINE.
But, after opening to edit the pattern, and shrinking the box thing (I'm sorry- I'm so amateur!) down to fit the background color square (right- because I have things that overlap so the initial bounding box (or whatever it's called) is too big), and also rearranging things that don't look quite right (by the way, this is like click-move-wait 5-10 seconds for illustrator to catch up which is extremely annoying), and then when it's perfect, I click save and it loads an error message:
"the art contains elements that are invalid for a pattern"
no. all the brush strokes are expanded, this isn't a pattern in a pattern problem, I don't know what is happening. I can save it just fine if I do NOTHING in the pattern making tool.
What is going on? Please help! I'm so frustrated!

It would be helpful if you upload a screenshot of what your pattern is so we can see it. If you can include layers with it expanded, that would be helpful. Also, I find that sometimes there is a memory issues, so I will rename a file that I have cleaned up and sized down and you might find that helps with the hang issue.

Unable to recover unsaved file after Illustrator crashes. Is there anything else I can do?
Illustrator did not recover my unsaved file after crashing, can I still recover it? My data recovery settings is set to every two minutes. I refuse to believe that it is gone for good...

Whatever you choose under the "Align to" popup menu becomes your default for Alignment until you choose some other Alignment. This is true whether you select a hundred objects or just one. Is it at all logical to Align to other objects with just one object selected? No. But it's the way Illustrator works.

On this user forum, we can only tell you how it works.
For me, if I have two objects selected, I want to align them to each other—not to the artboard. But that's my workflow.
When I want to align to the artboard, I do it with a different sequence that works well for me (and may for you).
- Select as many objects with whatever method
- Cmd + X to Cut
- Cmd + 0 to Fit Artboard in Window (centers the artboard on the screen)
- Cmd + V to Paste (pastes to center of the screen, also the center of the artboard because of Cmd +0)
- Deselect
Let me know if this works for you until and if it gets reprogrammed by the engineers!

Finally moved on to MAC
I've been using CS3 for years on a windows PC.
I've created a bunch of files I would like to access on a new iMAC.
What is the least expensive CS software out there for MAC that will allow me to access these files?
I want to purchase the software outright, not pay a subscription.
I see CS3 software available on Amazon but don't feel confident I'll be able to activate it if it is no longer being supported by Adobe.

How to merge images in Illustrator
I am very familiar with Photoshop and Muse, however, I am new to Illustrator. I have an svg graphic that was created in SolidWorks that I need to use in Illustrator to create a new logo for a client. The final output still needs to be a svg because the graphic I am creating will be a large banner and very large floor logo. For some reason, they created the SolidWorks graphic in 4 parts. These 4 parts are vector [images] in Illustrator. I need these 4 vector [images] to become one, because every time I create an svg file, these 4 separate vector [images] are divided and appear to have transparent space between each of them (even though they don't on my screen in Illustrator. I just need them to combine into one so the resulting vector will be ONE unit that I can use in other graphics I am creating for my client in Illustrator.
I have attached two pics. One screenshot of how the svg should look. One with the svg added into another graphic I'm working on (with annotations). Note the spacing when the svg is added to the other graphic. A lot of times, the spacing is even more pronounced.

Adobe Illustrator Font Issues
Hey,
I discovered a problem in Adobe Illustrator when using fonts.
If I select a font for a text like Helvetica Neue for example, the text changes to Helvetica Neue thats ok
BUT
It always show Myriad Pro in the settings so if I want to change Helvetica Neue into another weight for example I must search again
BUT
then all weights are not available in the panel. In the Screenshot you see I only can use the actual weight 75 Bold (the field is empty) normaly 75 bold should be visible because it's selected & in the drop down all other weights should be visible. I checked the font and reinstall it multiple times Adobe CC18 is updated so I cant find any error.
_No matter what font I select it always jumps back to Myriad Pro
_If I finally searched/found the font that I used the 2nd field is empty and only one weight is available
_and If i finally got my other weights back the one that I currently use and still can use is not longer visible in the drop down menu

Shapes & Fonts Jagged Lines
Hi,
This issue happened to me only 3 days ago, I create designs for apparel ( T-shirts, Hoodies, Leggings...etc ) so i use adobe illustrator to create and work on vector graphics rather than using photoshop for raster images and everything was working great until just a few days ago, i have been noticing that all the shapes and letters ( before and after converting them to outlines ) have those jagged / pixelated edges, I always work in 300 DPI - CMYK color mode and then convert to RGB color mode then save in PNG 300 DPI because my printer service requests all files to be sent in RBG mode, and it does not matter which color mode im working within, this issue happens regardless of the color mode or the DPI.
Here is what i have tried:
- Anti-aliasing was turned on by default , i ticked it off and on, no change.
- I have changed the settings in the document setup from medium to high resolution, no change.
- I have ticked the anti-alias option in ( Document raster effect settings ), no change.
- Because i used the 3d effect in my designs, i thought it could be the problem, removed the 3d effect, no change.
- Went over to my graphics card settings ( Nvidia Geforce 820 M ) which is compatible with illustrator , adjusted them and made adobe illustrator to be open and work with this graphics card ( because i have another build in graphics card ), no change
- Disabled the GPU performance option in the preferences - performance section, no change
- Deleted the preferences folder, no change.
- Uninstalled adobe illustrator then installed it again, no change.
So I've reached the point where I'm just grabbing my hair and tearing it out because I don't know where the problem is, even after the latest update, that issue did not happen, my monitor is the same, nothing changed in its settings, so again i dont know what the hell is going on, below is the link of short video i put together of the problem... Adding logo touches to a font character
Hi all,
I'm looking to take the letter S (in whatever font I chose) and customize it so that there are tiny leaves coming out of it.
For instance, my business name starts as Sage Brush and I'm looking to have sage leaves coming out of the S only for a logo design. How can I do this and is this something that I can manipulate using an iPencil, or would I need to add paths etc. I do know there's ways to do this, I'm looking for the easiest way right now, if there is one.
